Converting Mp3 or wav to CD, so it plays on my CD player at home?

I have some mp3 and wav files that I made myself and want to put it on a CD so that I can give to friends to listen to. But the mp3 files won't play on my Cd player, do I need to convert them, what file type and how is this done? Help please! Thanks
