Help plan my road trip?

I live 30 mins south of Boston and I haven't really been up North since I was a kid. My roommates and I would like to do a 10 day roadtrip in the middle of July. We want to drive through NH, ME, VT and maybe central MA. If anyone can suggest stops along the way, please answer with specific city names and attractions. The three of us are into different things including: nature, history, beaches, leisure, and recreational activities. We could use all of the help you have to offer.
