Hang a lcd tv??

can i just take a long screw screw it in the stud in the drywall and put the tv holder thing on that then hang the t.v.???? or how do i do that i'm not paying $200 for it to be "installed by a pro" its going to be a 13" or a 15" around 10 pounds
