Possible to find cheaper airfare than in the airline sites?

There are times when other sites such as Orbitz, Priceline, Hotwire, and such will show cheaper airfare. HOWEVER, most airlines will offer less, or even no airline miles toward their frequent flyer programs if you book thru these third party sites on discounted airfares. I would recommend searching on an engine such as kayak.com to bring up low airfares.
